| Back to What's New | | Janssen Motorsports THE STORY | From our humble start in the garage of Joel & Lisa Janssen to a now world wide ATV super power our motto remains the same, “Give the customer a good product at a fair price and the rest will take care of itself.”
Janssen Motorsports or Janssen Racing as it was known back in 1990 was a side job for Joel Janssen who was the Sales manager at a local Yamaha Dealer. I was racing dirt track and ice racing. It seemed that more and more people wanted what I had on or in my quads, so I started work on race quads in my garage. One morning after talking with my wife Lisa, I convinced her that I could do the race and ATV stuff as a full time job, and so Janssen Racing was born.
We ran an ad in the local paper and the service started to come in. Three months later I hired my first employee Tom Culshaw. Six months later I hired a second employee, and the business was cooking. My neighbors started to complain when we had 20 ATV’s and 20 snowmobiles in my yard waiting for service. So it was time to look for a new location. We located a 3000 square foot building just outside of our town of Kaukauna. We started running ads in Dirt wheels; we sponsored local flat track and motocross riders and even some local stock cars drivers. During this time I (Joel Janssen) continued to race quads, bikes, sport trucks and asphalt stock cars. The business was growing; we worked on everything from go-karts to quads, race bikes and street bikes.
About five years ago my dad, Gail Janssen, and I decided to design and build a new facility. It turned out to be a 8,000 square foot race facility with a 2,000 square foot showroom and a 6,000 square foot repair shop/machine shop/shock repair area/parts department and dyno area.
We now have 10 full time employees and we are now looking at adding on to the building because we are simply out of space. The last 17 years have been great and the next 17 look even better. With our son Cody Janssen running all the WPSA races with out 2007 Race Team including 2 of our employees, Cory Gauthier and Eddie Degeneffe running the Pro-Am class. The team also includes “Factory” Sam Rowe running a youth ATV class.
Thanks for all the success you have helped us achieve
Joel Janssen
